Your Suspicious Activity Complaint Could be the Missing Piece! - April, 2022

Jigsaw puzzle with one piece missing.

It's hard to believe April is here, as evidenced by the warmer weather!  Your Sheriff's Office continues to conduct numerous proactive patrols and investigations throughout the county, resulting in a slew of arrests - many felonies - for an array of criminal offenses.  I am most impressed by the work our agency members perform daily, all in service to our great community.  Simply, I offer much gratitude to my deputies and support staff.

This month's article is a bit unique, but something of utmost importance to me as your elected Sheriff.  Over the past month, in passing, I've received citizen comments about suspicious activity or persons in their respective neighborhoods.  During those conversations, the respective citizens have commented they "didn't want to bother" with something "little" so they did not call when the activity was occurring.

Please know, citizens reporting suspicious incidents to the Sheriff's Office are never bothersome.  In fact, we want to be called immediately!  Sometimes the small piece of the puzzle is all we need to solve an otherwise significant criminal investigation.  Criminals obviously don't just walk into our office to say, "I confess!"  Instead, we rely on citizen information in our law enforcement endeavors.  It's sometime that small piece of the puzzle we need!  Please, please, please call if you observe something suspicious, or maybe just out of the ordinary.  False alarms are really okay!

As always, if there are any concerns, please contact me.  I take my position seriously, and that starts with being responsive to the public.

Respectfully,

Clay Chism

Sheriff
