Door to Door Sales and Scams - April, 2021

It's hard to believe summer is just around the corner!  Typical of the summer season, residents will soon be contacted by door-to-door sales representatives from an array of retail services.  Whether it is college kids selling education books or out-of-state meat salespersons attempting to sell steaks out of their truck, residents have no obligation to be harassed, pressured, or persuaded by any unwelcome salesperson.  This is not to imply every salesperson acts inappropriately, however a few give a bad name to all when it comes to door-to-door sales.  If you are being harassed, give the salesperson a direct statement to depart from your personal property.  If they do not, tell them they are now trespassing and if they don't leave, you are calling 911.  If that does not work, call 911 to report a trespassing!  It's that simple.  Also, of much concern, just as last summer, the asphalt scammers will likely pay a visit to our local area.  Make sure before you agree to have your driveway asphalted, you obtain all business credentials and do thorough reference checks.  Make sure the business is legitimate - it's not hard to do with the Internet these days!  Otherwise, you will pay thousands to have a thin layer of oil put on your now gravel driveway.  That's not asphalt..... that's a scam, pure and simple!
